Honeydew Health
I ‘m working on an animated video for Honeydew Health. This is the third video we’ve created for Honeydew, the first was back in 2016. The idea behind the new video is to promote Absence Line – a 24/7 absence reporting line and custom communication package. We’re using a storytelling approach where we show two possible outcomes to the same scenario following Annie, the star of the video. We start with Annie hurting her back and then the timeline splits into two stories showing what happens to Annie if she tries to manage her absence herself and then what happens if she had used Absence Line instead.
The Beard of Doom
This is my Covid-era side-project. I’ve wanted to write and illustrate a picture book for a long time. At the moment, I’ll be happy to get something made…it doesn’t have to be perfect, just something that’s finished and in a physical format. I’d originally thought, when we went into the first lockdown, that I would be working a lot less than I am and so I imagined that I’d have plenty of time to perfect a story and a series of illustrations. This hasn’t been the case. Covid did impact the business, but life seems to find a way of cluttering up time with additional, unforeseen obstacles.
Anyhow, the book will be based around the idea of a town that hates people having beards due to silly stories about facial hair being evil. Then, our protagonist grows a beard and the townsfolk go nuts with torches and pitchforks. There’ll be a twist or two to the tale but I’m saying nothing yet…well, I will say that I don’t believe that all stories should have well-defined heroes and villains nor must they have happy endings.
Warmzilla
We’re in the early stages of pitching style samples and putting together a script for a lovely new client. WarmZilla is a heating industry disruptor. They put themselves in the shoes of the customer and solve every problem that they could possibly have when purchasing a new boiler…they even give away free boilers and Derek the dinosaur plush toys!
This might end up cartoony or perhaps it’ll be a mixed-media piece – we’re really not sure yet. Regardless, the client is up for a bit of ‘oddball humour’ so it promises to be a fun project!
Animated Collage
I’m in the middle of pre-production for a new collage-style video to promote my own business. This will be a rather odd Monty Python style animated video (like the absurd animations that Terry Gilliam made to run in between skits). I’m keeping it as short as possible, definitely under a minute to make sure it’s achievable around our usual workload. Ze Frank has recorded the voice-over.
So far the ideas for various scenes include Viking ships being pulled through the sky by a flying goat, clients vomiting answers and a large robot version of Frankenstein’s monster.

- I’m trying to come up with a final design for the Lost Marble mascot characters.
- I’m reworking an old video for AMCL and looking to create some new content for them as well.
- As always, we’ve created some video content for clients I’m not allowed to mention…super-secret stuff.
- And also, some secret illustration work.
- Last but not least; I conquered non-fried, baked doughnuts!
