Mixed Media Animated Explainer

Bringing written words to life...

Nicky Griffiths, a talented voice-over artist we’d worked with on several projects, approached us to create an animated explainer video for her audiobook production service. When I clicked through to her website to learn more about the business, I was immediately taken by the vintage 1950s-inspired design—muted colours, mixed media, and collage-style artwork. My first thought was, “I really want to make a video in this style… I’d probably do it for free!”

Luckily, Nicky and her media manager were on exactly the same page—they wanted the animation to align closely with the existing branding. We briefly considered a more humorous, Monty Python-style version of the script, but ultimately decided it didn’t quite fit the tone of the brand.

The final result is a charming and engaging one-minute mixed media animation that informs while it entertains. I love how it turned out—and more importantly, Nicky does too.

Bringing words to life is exactly what we did here—taking a script and transforming it into an animated video. It’s also what Indie Audiobook Productions does best: giving words a voice so they can be heard as well as read.
